Winter Meetings hangover underway
Today is a traditionally quiet day on the trade front as the GMs take time to digest what they learned at the Winter Meetings.
Nobody thinks the Yankees are totally out of the Johan Santana talks. It is generally believed that the Twins were told to give Brian Cashman a call before they finalize anything.
But that doesn’t mean that Santana will suddenly be wearing pinstripes. Once the Hank Steinbrenner deadline passed, several Yankee execs were saying they didn’t want to give up Phil Hughes in the first place. There was plenty of in-house debate on this trade.
Boston appears to be the only team in serious contention. Does that mean they move forward or back off? The Mets badly want to get involved but won’t part with Jose Reyes.
Theo Epstein, at this point, can afford to wait and not change his offer. The Twins have nowhere else to go. Can they really trade Santana for Jon Lester and assorted prospects? Or Jacoby Ellsbury and assorted prospects?

總覺得山大王的交易案有種歹戲拖棚的感覺 @@ 不過像山大王這樣的重量級球星,交易雙方會斤斤計較似乎也是蠻合理的事情。不知道什麼時候這則交易案才會正式落幕。
